About the event

The elements of the artist are colors, techniques, themes. In this exhibition, Wal Jarosz, an artist living and working in Koszalin presents his thematic elements.

He has long been creating in cycles that run in parallel, without disturbing each other, sometimes mixing or visiting. We will therefore see works from the cycles: Mouth, Animals, Abstractions and Architecture.

The first three are usually made in the comfort of the studio, sometimes in the open air and usually in the oil technique. Sometimes oil pastel, collage creeps in. The artist creates them for a long time, sometimes for a very long time, returning to them many times, changing, refining.

“Mouths” are a collection resulting from observations of human nature, diversity and emotions. A bit of physiognomy here, although these “mouths” are rarely portraits of real people.

“Pets” is the hallmark of the artist. These are mainly horses and chickens and roosters. They are far from realistic images. Rather, they are a synthesis of shapes, rubbing even against abstraction. Wal Jarosz plays with them and even more plays with colors.

Abstractions arise from the need of the moment to express what is not enough for the artist in other cycles. Here, not only colors swirl, but also shapes, sometimes surprising elements that make up a finished work.

Architecture is recorded from foreign trips or expeditions to the nearest surroundings of Koszalin and the region. They are made in the open air, in the technique of oil pastels, expressive and comfortable, because you do not need to carry many tools. All you need is a block and a box of crayons. It is painting by nature, because the work remains on the cardboard as it was created at the time of creation.

What do these cycles have in common? Above all, the intensity and richness of color, a firm hand holding a pencil or a brush. There is no doubt that these so different works are the work of a single author, first a colorist, then an observer.
