We invite you to a unique photography exhibition that allows you to look at the history of the IF Sudauen Stalag from a completely different perspective.
The exhibition presents a unique collection of photographs from the Second World War, taken by Nicolaus Knozer — a pre-war Viennese photographer, and during the war the commander of the German Luftwaffe Sonderlager Ost Sudauen POW camp, operating in parallel with the IF Sudauen Stalag in Suwałki.
The photographs come from the original album acquired by Krzysztof Dawid Kowalewski, director of the documentary film “Stalag IF Sudauen” and curator of the exhibition. Among them there are also photographs related to Suwałki, Płociczno, Gołdapia and Filipov.
This is a special collection because the photographs were not taken by the prisoners or the liberators of the camp, but by a person on the side of the German occupation apparatus. Thanks to this, they constitute a rare iconographic source that allows us to look at the functioning of the POW camps and document the reality of war.
📅 Exhibition opening: October 13, 2026
🕠 5:30 p.m.
📍 Kina Kultura hall — Culture House in Gołdap
