XXI Hanza Jazz Festival - Dorota Miśkiewicz

Dorota Miśkiewicz “Good Friends”

A unique concert by Dorota Miśkiewicz, in which jazz enters into a fascinating dialogue with Brazilian music, and Slavic sensibility is intertwined with the energy of the south.

The Polish version of a concert promoting material from Dorota's last album, recorded with the accompaniment of Brazilian stars: above all, the co-leader of the project, Latin jazz icon, guitarist Toninho Horta. After an enthusiastically received concert tour covering 11 cities with guests from Brazil, which took place in September 2023 — the artist returns to the music of the south, this time accompanied by a Polish band. It is worth emphasizing that the album “Bons Amigos” brought Dorota Miśkiewicz two nominations for Fryderyk: in the category Jazz Album of the Year and Jazz Artist of the Year.

The concert program included original works by Toninho Horta, belonging to the canon of Brazilian culture. As befits music, the emotional range of which ranges from laughter to tears - these are both serene songs, conjuring up the image of a sunny beach, and more poetic songs, marked by the typical bossanovy longing and melancholy.

Also surprising are new interpretations of Dorota's original songs from the album “Caminho” and “ALE” (2012) released in 2008.
