With his superb guitar playing, Yerai Cortés has established himself in just a few years as one of the most distinctive voices in the new generation of flamenco. The young Spanish guitarist takes flamenco to new heights with his ability to unite technical superiority, deep tradition and fearless renewal. We are thrilled to present Yerai Cortés when he hosts ALICE with an intimate solo concert in November. The concert is presented with the support of the Spanish Embassy in Denmark.

Yerai Cortés is not just an insanely skilled guitarist. He is the banner leader of a new era for flamenco and, together with names such as Israel Fernández and Ángeles Toledano, has helped make the proud Spanish tradition absolutely relevant today. Born in Alicante, Cortés went to Madrid at 17, where he quickly broke through on the city's legendary flamenco scene with his gripping game and his ability to bridge the gap between tradition and renewal. He has thus played with a number of the great masters of flamenco, but also with contemporary musicians such as the icon C. Tangana, the pop-star Judeline and the electronic musician Floating Points. After extensive tours around the world and the award-winning documentary “La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés” (2024), directed by just C. Tangana, his name has become synonymous with modern flamenco of absolute world class.

Only 31-year-old Yerai Cortés' music contains a rare calm, heaviness and maturity that gives the feeling of listening to an artist with decades of experience — something few have ever achieved. When he puts his fingers on the strings, the guitar almost seems to speak its own language, and his playing is elegant, expressive and deeply moving. After breaking through with his debut album, a Latin Grammy nomination and multiple Goya awards, he is now up to speed with the critically acclaimed sequel “POPULAR” (2026). The album features a generous explosion of flamenco styles and variations that together form a dazzling flamenco kaleidoscope and demonstrate his insatiable curiosity and desire to seek out new avenues for the music.

Yerai Cortés is part of the programme at this year's sold-out Roskilde Festival, but at ALICE the audience gets a unique — and perhaps last — chance to experience the superb guitarist in an intimate solo format.
