Yōkai — mysterious creatures on manga cards

The Manga Lovers Club “Isekai” will take you this time to the world of Japanese legends, magic and creatures that are hard to forget.

Yōkai, or spirits, demons, and supernatural beings, have been a part of Japanese folklore for centuries. Tanuki, kappa, kitsune or oni have been found not only in old tales, but also on manga cards and anime.

We will examine how traditional beliefs have been given new life in titles such as “The Book of Friends of Natsume”, “Jujutsu Kaisen”, “Noragami” or the films of Studio Ghibli. It will be about legends, manga heroes, and why yōkai find themselves so well in a variety of genres — from shōnen to horror.

Finally, a prize quiz and a Halloween treat await you.

Bring your favorite manga with you! Cosplay and thematic accents in clothing are welcome.
