About the event

Where did the manga come from? Did Japanese children read Andersen? How is it that we experience so much interest in Japanese literature?

During the October meeting we will learn about the history of Japanese children's literature, its path to Polish publishing houses and the most interesting publications available today for Polish readers.

The lecture will be led by Dr. Marcelina Leśniczak — a graduate of Japanese Studies of the University of Warsaw University of Applied Sciences, currently an assistant professor at the Department of Oriental Studies at the University of Warsaw University of Warsaw, Toruń, and a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Education of Japan and The Japan Foundation. Her research focuses on Japanese literature and theater for children who were born in Japan at the end of the 19th century.
