Event as part of the Festival of Culture without Barriers
We invite you to a tour of the exhibition “Alina Szapocznikow/Nairy Baghramian” in Zachęta — National Gallery of Art. During the tour we will see the works of two artists: • Alina Szapocznikow - a Polish sculptor, • Naira Baghramian - an artist from Iran, living in Germany. Artists created at different times. However, their work has many common themes. Both artists were interested in the human body, its appearance and possibilities. In their works they also talked about illness, transience, the senses and the experience of the body. The exhibition will include sculptures, drawings, graphics and photographs by Alina Szapocznikow. There will also be sculptures by Naira Baghramian. During the tour we will learn more about the artists and their work. We will also talk about how their art can be interpreted.
Sensitive Content Warning:
The exhibition presents works that may include depictions of a naked or fragmentarily depicted human body. Content related to illness, suffering, transience and death also appears. Some work can be intense or disturbing to receive.
