LEMAŃCZYK GOLICKI SARNECKI TRIO FT. JACQUES CUBA SEGUIN

Jacques Kuba Seguin - trumpet Rafał Sarnecki - guitar Piotr Lemańczyk - double bass Adam Golicki - drums

Sarnecki, Lemańczyk, Golicki are a collective trio that has been performing in the current line-up since 2022. In such a short time, the band has already played several tours with such renowned artists as Randy Brecker, Mike & Leni Stern, or Grażyna Auguścik. The trio does not have a distinguished leader, all members of the band are equally involved in the process of composition and arrangement.

An important element of the tour is the collaboration with Canadian trumpeter Jacques Kuba Séguin, who brings new energy to the sound of the band. “I feel a little at home, because I am of Polish origin. “This is such a musical community,” the artist said. As he emphasized, the combination of Canadian experience with Polish sensitivity gives interesting results. The trio's musicians have no doubt that this collaboration works extremely well. — We play with each other as if we have always known each other. There is this chemistry. ardzo sparks between us — emphasized drummer Adam Golicki.

The album “NYC Session”, as the name suggests, was recorded in New York. The footage was recorded at Spin Studios, which is located in the Queens neighborhood. The recordings were made by legendary sound engineer Roy Hendrickson, known for his collaborations with artists such as B.B. King and Pat Metheny. Hendrickson's unique experience recording guitar virtuosos was crucial here. For the guitar trio, it was especially important that the guitar sound was full and harmonized well with the bass and drum frequencies. The album contains seven songs. Six of them are original compositions of the members of the team. In addition to them, the album also included an arrangement of the popular standard “Green Dolphin Street”. The presence of this piece on the album is symbolic, as its author is Bronisław Kaper — a composer from Poland, who wrote many jazz standards and made a career in Hollywood. The music on the album is diverse. On it you can find the spatial atmospheric ballad “Waltz for A”, or the calm previously mentioned “Green Dolphin Street”. There are also very energetic compositions such as “Blue Chick”, which features Mike Stern's signature blues solo. There are also songs with complex harmony, for example, “Untitled Story”. Despite the limited instrumental composition, the album is distinguished by a wealth of colors and sounds. Two tracks featured special guests — Mike and Leni Stern. Mike is one of the most recognized guitarists in the history of jazz music. Several generations of guitarists have learned to play the instrument by analyzing Mike Stern's transcriptions. He was a member of Miles Davis's famous electric band in the 1980s. His wife Leni Stern, in addition to performing guitar parts, also played the African instrument ngoni, which gave the song “Bucht” a magical ethnic color. It is also worth mentioning that Mike and Leni Stern played 14 concerts with the Polish trio during two tours. Their participation in the recordings was by no means accidental. During such numerous performances, the musicians had the opportunity to bond well musically as well as get to know each other on a personal level. Piotr Lemańczyk is considered one of the most outstanding European jazz bassists. He performs and records with names of world jazz such as: Mike Stern, Walter Smith III, Jerry Bergonzi, Seamus Blake, Dave Kikoski, Tim Hagans, Brian Melvin, Gary Novak, Avishai Cohen - tp, Leni Stern, Soweto Kinch, Leszek Możdżer, Krzesimir Dëbski, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Dominik Wania, MAP, Maciej Sikała and others. He is a member of many leading Polish jazz bands and the only European member of the American Beatlejazz band.
