The Lost Highway

Fascinating, dark puzzle of the master of dreamy horror — in stunning 4K!

Escaping easy to understand and simple explanations, a cinephile tribute to cinema noir and the work of great directors of the past, such as Alfred Hitchcock, Maya Deren and Robert Aldrich, with an outstanding soundtrack created by Angelo Badalamenti and Trent Reznor.

Saxophonist Fred (Bill Pullman in one of his best roles) and his wife Renée (Patricia Arquette) begin to receive mysterious news and VHS tapes. One of them turns out to contain a recording of the musician standing over the dismembered body of his partner; shortly after its reproduction, the protagonist is arrested and sentenced to death for murder. A few days later, however, it turns out that Pete (Balthazar Getty), a distraught young mechanic, is in his cell instead. This is only the beginning of strange events, wrapped up in the film web of Möbius.

“The Lost Highway” had its world premiere at the Sundance Festival, and in the annual summary of 1997, the editorial staff of the prestigious French magazine “Cahiers du Cinéma” placed it in third place.
