Each of us experiences grief and sooner or later becomes a support for those who are experiencing it. Even so, grief is often misunderstood — both by ourselves and by those around us — and the help offered turns out to be insufficient. Instead of accepting it as a deep, human experience, we treat it as a problem to be solved, which leads to perpetuating misconceptions about how people should (or shouldn't) experience loss.

Grief is a natural response to loss, although it requires mindfulness and proper understanding. Even though it may seem uncomfortable and difficult to accompany someone in grief, there are universal ways and small acts of kindness that can make bereaved people feel less alone and more understood and noticed.

Therefore, we invite you to a workshop where we will look at the psychology of grief and how to show support and understanding. The meeting is aimed at all people who would like to expand their knowledge about experiencing loss.

During the workshop, the experience of bereavement will be discussed in a broad context, including the loss of loved ones and animals, as well as other difficult experiences of loss and ending.

During the workshop participants:

expand their knowledge of the psychology of grief,

get acquainted with an overview of contemporary theories about mourning,

learn about the factors that influence the experience of grief,

get acquainted with the phenomenon of unrecognized mourning and find out why mourning for a beloved animal is inscribed in it,

understand the impact of grief on daily functioning,

learn how to wisely and tenderly support and care for those who are grieving,

learn about the concept of a lasting bond and its importance in adapting to life after loss.

There will also be space for teamwork and self-reflection.
