“For a healthy mind. How to take care of the brain in a world of excess” — author's meeting with Dr. Asia Wojsiat
hosted by: Joanna Zapała
Duration: 90 min/age 18+
We're tired, but we can't rest. We have access to almost everything, and it is increasingly difficult for us to focus, saturate and really be where we are. Our brains operate today in a thicket of notifications, pressure, noise, rush, and endless promises that we can become an even better version of ourselves.
What does this excess do to our memory, attention, emotions, and reward circuitry? Why do we keep reaching for new stimuli? And how do you get your balance back without turning taking care of yourself into the next task to check off?
After the bestseller “This is how the brain works”, Dr. Asia Wojsiat goes one step further. Combining neuroscience, psychosomatics and lifestyle medicine, he shows that the brain is not a device that needs to be reset, but a living ecosystem co-created by the body, experiences, relationships, and environment.
She explains how chronic stress changes the way we think and feel, why dopamine keeps us wanting more, and how sleep, movement, breathing, meditation, nature, closeness, creativity, reading and play help us regain flexibility. It also looks at memory, beliefs, consciousness and the sense of self, showing that the mind is not something separate from biology, but constantly emerges from our way of life.
“For a healthy mind” is not a collection of neurotricks or a self-improvement program. It is a map of returning to what is biologically important, based on research, personal experience and attention to human complexity. No moralizing, the promise of full control and the pressure of perfection.
Because the brain, tired of excess, does not need further commands. He needs conditions in which he can regulate himself again, create, be close and stay in touch with life. {publisher's description]
