Liliana Rivera Garza died. A young twenty-year-old girl, a student

architecture, killed in Mexico City her ex-partner, a boyfriend she met

still in high school and who wouldn't let her go. Cristina Rivera

Garza, a Mexican novelist, decides to tell the story of Liliana,

of her sister, who, like so many other women, did not live to see

justice. Balancing on the border of fiction and nonfiction,

the author analyzes the notes, talks with her sister's friends and loved ones,

gets acquainted with the extensive literature on violence against women, and all

to reconstruct the life of a brilliant and courageous girl and write her

History in a broader socio-cultural context.

The book was awarded the 2024 Pulitzer Prize in the memoir category. She was included in the final of the National Book Award in the category

The José Donoso Ibero-American Literary Prize.

CRISTINA RIVERA GARZA (b. 1964)

— Mexican writer, author of novels, essays, poems, translations and texts

critical-literary. International recognition was brought to her by the novel “Nobody

will see my tears” (1999), which Carlos Fuentes called one of

the most outstanding works of Spanish-language literature of the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Winner of numerous literary awards, including twice the Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize. It belongs to El Colegio Nacional,

prestigious Mexican institution that brings together the most outstanding figures of the world

science and culture. Since 1989 he has lived and created in the United States. Profesora

of literature and founder of the creative writing program in Spanish at

University of Houston.
