Hollywood, 1965: Legendary stage and film star Tallulah Bankhead comes to the studio to play one short line for his latest film.
A seemingly routine session, however, quickly turns into a test of patience and specific therapy. One sentence is repeated endlessly, and the tension in the director grows with each subsequent “loop”. The meeting of the great, uncompromising diva of old Hollywood with a young editor turns into a brilliant, ironic duel of characters.
Matthew Lombardo's play, based on an authentic episode from Bankhead's life, is a penetrating and at the same time extremely entertaining story of the artist's fame, passing and loneliness. The sentence recorded over and over becomes a metaphor for human destiny, which can loop in ambitions, memories and unfulfilled hopes.
