Żar — performance of Teatru Polonia

A moving story about friendship, betrayal and the unfulfilled need to know the truth. It is a masterful play with the participation of outstanding actors with passions whose heat does not go out despite the passing of the years.

The play takes place in August 1940, when, after years of separation, two former friends meet at a dinner together. Both are over seventy years old. They met at school and were inseparable, but certain events in the past caused their paths in life to diverge. After forty years, Konrad (Daniel Olbrychski) comes to visit Henrik's (Jan Englert) palace to confront the past. It's not going to be an easy evening as Henrik tries to get answers to the questions that have plagued him for four decades.

Will the old secrets see the light of day? Will it be possible to reconcile after years? Buy a ticket and see how the heroes cope with this reckoning of life.

Christopher Hampton's “Heat” is an unusual adaptation of the novel by the Hungarian writer — Sándor Márai. It was first staged on February 15, 2006 at London's Duke of York's Theatre, winning acclaim for its timeless subject matter and masterful construction of dialogue. The play was translated into Polish by Elżbieta Woźniak. The premiere took place on September 20, 2025 at Teatro Polonia.
