“Wandering Cupid” is a humorous story about finding love in the modern world, actually five stories about five different women, masterfully played by Katarzyna Skrzynecka, who by creating so many characters in one performance celebrates the 35th anniversary of artistic work.
She is an annoying housewife, a brazen representative of the world of politics, a passionate Spanish woman, a shy accountant, and a Wagner opera lover with a briefcase full of guidelines and expectations for a future partner. In each of these characters, she is funny, convincing, perverse, surprising and charming, showing a range of acting (and even musical) skills and her extraordinary sense of humor, for which she has been invariably loved by viewers across the country for many years.
On stage we will also see Magdalena Smalara in the role of Stanisława — the owner of a matrimonial agency, whose years of splendor are long behind her. However, the owner does not lack self-confidence, temperament, stubbornness and cunning. As a master of cut riposte, she entertains and surprises, adding spice to conversations with her clients about their love adventures. After all, finding a “prince from a fairy tale” is not a simple task.
The play, directed by Jerzy Bończak, is also the culmination of his 55 years of artistic work. The male point of view of the director perfectly highlights the funny contradictions of female logic in the perception of female-male roles and relationships.
