Revenge, directed by Joanna Drozda, is a break from the classics with modernity. The director invited the poet and slammer Michał Głaszczka to collaborate, with whom she created an adaptation, adding contemporary lyrics and songs to the classic drama. Głaszczka and Drozda play with convention, in their adaptation they also refer to pop culture. There will be... Madonna, hip-hop, Dorota Masłowska and a slam duel for the words of Fredry, Mickiewicz and Słowacki.

The action of the drama takes place in the museum. The guide through Fredra's world is the Curator, who... explains the intricacies of the plot, brings the silhouette of the writer closer, comments on the stage reality, and even interacts with the characters and... the audience. “This specific form is intended mainly to dust the world of the nineteenth century story a little and adapt it to our perception,” says the director.

- Fredro was a genius of the comedy of mistakes, he wrote a masterpiece, both in terms of language and plot. Therefore, on the Częstochowa stage, viewers will watch “Revenge” almost in its entirety, with very few abbreviations. I would like to preserve the distinctiveness of Fredrowski's characters, but to bring out their contemporary features, highlight their features and give them a contemporary context.

- I hope that people who watch our show will have a sense of time well spent, as well as space for self-reflection, because Fredro also wrote about us - he adds.

Joanna Drozda, actress, director, author of scripts and stage adaptations. For many years she has been associated with the National Old Theatre in Krakow, the Gustaw Holoubek Drama Theatre in Warsaw, the Polish Hieronim Konieczka Theatre in Bydgoszcz.

She played with leading Polish directors, as she admits: As a rule, these were roles with a very high emotional charge. - I had to take a break from this kind of theater, because it began to burden me - An actor playing in the so-called involved theater, carries all the roles, like a heavy backpack. I thought I'd like to reach the audience in a slightly different way. Through laughter, humor, lightness, mixing conventions. This is how the idea of directing was born.

Joanna Drozda has realized more than a dozen performances, from her debut “Brzeg-Opole” (with Marta Ojrzyńska), through the bold, burlesque “Extravaganza” * at the Polish Theater in Poznań, to the musical based on the canvas of the TV series “Czterdziestolatek” **, which premiered just three months ago at the Rampa Theater in Warsaw.
