REVENGE OF THE BAT

Operetta in three acts. A performance played in Polish.

Revenge of the Bat is not the best operetta. It is an operetta, a masterpiece of the genre — with these words Felix Weingartner, Austrian conductor, composer and pianist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and a great expert on operetta, defined the work of Johann Strauss II. If we add to these words the authority of Gustav Mahler, who personally conducted Revenge of the Bat, thus giving an immortal model for all future interpretations of it, it is difficult to find better recommendations.

The staging of the Wielki Theatre in Łódź has at least two additional advantages: master Julian Tuwim, author of the Polish translation of the libretto, and producer of the production Giorgio Madia — a world-renowned artist, author of excellent stage visions, such as in Hoffmann's Tales or in the well-known Łódź audience, who squeals with the wit of Cinderella.

Johann Strauss himself, the master of the Viennese waltz, showed in Revenge of the Bat his great sense of humor, instrumental wit and musical characterization of the characters — heroes who, in this amusing but not at all absurd puzzle of events and characters, double and triple to put the viewer in the best possible mood. Finally, Strauss's “child prodigy” is a colorful hit list, each of which is a musical and vocal gem, an opportunity for virtuoso showdowns for performers.

And if the masterful work is taken by masters, including Tadeusz Kozłowski, known for his conducting mastery and sense of humor, then the way out is one: it is imperative to witness this event!
