Taiwan’s flagship ensemble returns for a tapestry of orchestral colour. Debussy’s Suite bergamasque – source of the beloved Clair de lune – opens in shimmering impressionist hues, before Paul Huang brings “a technique that makes the most punishing string phrases feel as natural as breathing” to Bruch’s ever‑popular First Violin Concerto. Yuan Chen Li’s Tao of Meinong pays mesmeric, gently pulsing homage to the Hakka people, while scenes from Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet, including the mighty Dance of the Knights, offer drama, wit and deep‑seated emotion.
Programme: Debussy – Suite bergamasque (arr. for orchestra); Bruch – Violin Concerto No. 1; Yuan Chen Li – Tao of Meinong; Prokofiev – Romeo & Juliet Suites Nos. 1 & 2 (excerpts)
Performers: Jun Märkl (conductor); Paul Huang (violin); Taiwan Philharmonic
