Change of priority + lecture by Julia Święch

Change of Preference + Julia Święch dir. Ben Wolf | USA | 2025 | 75 min

On one of the streets of Brooklyn, a car fatally hits an English teacher. This accident becomes an impulse, after which the surrounding residents begin to demand real change. They want to rebuild a dangerous artery, calm traffic and regain a sense of security in their own neighborhood. The plan seems simple and the data speak in its favor. And that's when the feud begins, drawing in politicians, business, and activists from all over New York. Is it really enough to move a few lines on the asphalt to unleash a real urban war?

Ben Wolf's “Change of Priority” follows this conflict from the inside, showing, step by step, how a rational discussion of security turns into a violent political pushover. Hard data, traffic analysis and expert arguments collide with powerful interests, concreted habits and the struggle to influence urban space. The film stars Zohran Mamdani, Janette Sadik-Khan and David Byrne, but the real protagonist remains the street itself and the fundamental question: who really has the right to it.

The screening will be preceded by a lecture by Julia Święch - sociologist, journalist and web creator.
