The end of the year is a time of summing up and a melancholy look at the world. We long for summer and its energy, while Far Eastern cultures see peace and beauty in this natural rhythm of autumn passing.

Traditionally, they find expression in seasonal flower arrangements, created according to the principles of ikebana (this word means “to revive a cut flower”). In the Land of the Cherry Blossom, there are more than 300 schools that teach and develop this typically Japanese art. Some of them have strict rules for composing and selecting plants, others approach the arrangement of flowers in a modern and sculptural way. In our workshop we will look at the 100-year-old Sogetsu school from Tokyo, the main principle of which is that “everything can be your flower”.

At the meeting, you will learn about three styles of ikebana and face the challenge of creating your own autumn composition from unobvious and surprising elements. Teamwork and lots of fun awaits you!

Adults, especially seniors, are welcome to participate in the classes. Don't forget to bring your glasses! 😉

• Number of places limited: 12

• We meet in the main hall of the MJP, on benches, at the dressing room.

• Duration: about 1.5 hours, and if you need a little more time, we are there for you and we will wait for the final of your work.

Moderator: Angelika Dłuska, educator at the Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejowek.
