We will begin the review of dance motifs in art by discussing paintings from ancient Egypt, through Greek vase painting, which was inspired in her dance by the famous Isadora Duncan, through the art of the ancient Etruscans and Romans. Passing a “dance step” through successive eras, we will reach the art of Eduard Degas and his famous ballerinas. In the art of the 20th century we find images of dancers and dancers full of expression and dynamism painted with spots of color, lines and lines that already seem to dance in themselves. We will end our dance journey with the work of artists whose movement and dance is woven into the process of applying paint to the canvas.
About the event
We invite you to explore the unobvious connections between music and painting, dance and literature. Together we will look at how sounds inspire artists, how music is fixed on canvases, how dance turns into an image, and melodies become a source of magic and literary tales. From the works of old masters and Renaissance visions, to ancient dance performances and fantasy worlds, to the lyrics of pop songs, we will look for traces of music where we don't always expect to find it.
