Director: Michael Vogel
How can a Holocaust survivor face the granddaughter of a Nazi perpetrator? In “ZweitZeuge,” Jean Vaislic and Ilka Vierkant embark on the painful path of this confrontation. Both live by the rule of silence — for different reasons. The granddaughter embarks on the process of discovering the hidden stories in the heart of her own family.
Ilka's grandpa Werner was Reichsbahn director for the eastern territories. As a concentration camp inmate in Auschwitz-Birkenau, Auschwitz survivor Jean had to lay tracks that this grandfather could have planned. For the actress, who has toured Europe with the FLÖZ FAMILY for many years, the encounter with Jean in Toulouse became an impetus to develop a poetic puppet theatre evening against oblivion — inspired by the words of Jean Vaislic: “When I give in to a bad thought, I no longer exist. So when a bad thought comes over me, I think of flowers. ”
A German-French and also Polish story between generations.
