About the event

In the space of the permanent exhibitions of the Museum, a thematic path leading through the most important stages of the director's work has been launched. Andrzej Wajda's Trail is a story about more than six decades of artistic work — from films that are part of the current Polish film school to works that engage in dialogue with history, literature and the present.

Visitors will see unique objects related to the production of Andrzej Wajda's films. The tour path has been enriched with 6 new exhibits, which are located in the space of the temporary exhibition “40 treasures on the 40th anniversary of the Museum of Cinematography”, these are, among others: the script for the film “Virgin of the Wolf”, the cane of Bucholec from the “Promised Land” or the statue of Christ from the film “Ash and Diamond”.

Guests of the Museum will have the opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes stories, including the story of the director's award of the Honorary Oscar, which he received on March 26, 2000, at the 72nd Academy Awards in Los Angeles for Lifetime Achievement.

The exhibition also presents production documents for the film “Generation” from 1954, posters for the director's films, as well as scenographic and costume projects prepared for the realization of “Ashes”. A special place in this story is occupied by the Scheibler Palace - today the headquarters of the Museum - which became one of the photo plans of the “Promised Land”. Some of the museum items presented are personal gifts of Andrzej Wajda, donated to the Museum's collection.
