The Jewish Museum of Galicia and the Institute of Judaism of the Jagiellonian University are launching a new series of meetings dedicated to the history, culture and heritage of the Jews in Galicia. Invited guests and guests will look at familiar stories, places and phenomena from new perspectives, reflecting on the memory, identity and significance of Jewish heritage today.
During the first meeting, speakers will be: Prof. Andrzej Chwalba, Prof. Jacek Purchla and Michał Galas, Prof. The meeting will be moderated by Dr. Karolina Koprowska and Dr. Katarzyna Suszkiewicz.
We would like to reflect together on how to study and tell the history of the Jews in Galicia in the 21st century. What sources and research perspectives remain untapped? How to preserve the memory of the rich material and intangible heritage — synagogues, cemeteries and archives, but also of the literature, art, music, language, traditions and everyday life of the former communities?
In Polish. Free admission.
