WANTS IN THE SKY

A performative rebellion against the Christmas gift race.

What happens when requests turn into order lists? WISHES in the SKY is an intense and playful performance that leads the audience through the yearnings, expectations and gifts of Christmas.

With black humor and physical acuity, the inner states behind the surface are explored. A sensual space where presence is resurrected amid the Christmas frenzy.

After the performance, choreographer and performer Tora Balslev meets the audience for a conversation about WANTS in SKY. Based on the audience's own experiences, she talks about the thoughts, images and inspirations behind the work — from the desire for gifts, happiness, success and the good life to the concept of “evil optimism”, where our belief that anything is possible can turn against us. And what role does Santa really play in all that?
