Sonya Shats is an independent artist, songwriter and performer who is building a music career in exile. She always dreamed of singing: as a child she wrote poems, and after the war she moved to Portugal, where she met the sound producer Ilya Voronkova. Thus began their musical journey together.

In just six months, they created their debut EP “Emigrant”. The title track quickly went viral on social media, amassing hundreds of thousands of views and becoming an emotional anthem for many struggling with displacement and the search for a new home. After the release of the EP, the band continued to experiment with sound: from funk and R&B, to UK Garage, to a variety of pop influences.

Sonya's music combines high-quality production with candid lyrics about real life. A journey into the unknown, coming out of a difficult relationship, motherhood and new inner challenges — each track reflects the personal experiences and feelings of a generation torn between countries, decisions and stages of growing up.

In three and a half years of independent activity without a label and creating music in Russia and in exile, Sonya and her team have already released a huge number of albums, played concerts in European cities and continue to form their own recognizable sound - sincere, vivid and free from genre restrictions.
